THE CHALLENGE

The pharmaceutical supply chain has a huge environmental impact and due to the lack of real-time monitoring of temperature sensitive products, over $30 billions of pharmaceuticals are wasted annually meaning repeat manufacturing and repeat delivery journeys.

Controlant, an Icelandic company, have been tackling this problem with their cutting edge, reuseable monitoring devices – Saga - partnering with Vodafone Business and their IoT SIMs and global connectivity to create a solution that helps drive them towards their vision of zero waste in the supply chain.

We were asked by Vodafone Group to capture this story of sustainability through partnership with an engaging and inspirational case study showcasing how this solution works and has proven benefits that could be used in other sectors. We were also linked up with Bloomberg who wanted to use some of our footage for their own edit!

THE CREATION

The team here quickly got to work and through discussions with both Vodafone and Controlant came up with storyboard and visual treatment ideas that could really make this video shine.

As we wanted to show the journey of a pharmaceutical product from production and packing to shipping and delivery, we needed to engage with not only Controlant, but also their customer manufacturing site and vehicles for transport.

The team at Controlant were amazing! And after a recce, an action plan was in place for a 3-day shoot over various locations in Iceland interviewing Controlant’s Co-founder and their VP for sustainability. We also scoped for an extra interview with a Senior Consultant at the Carbon Trust who had been looking at this solution to realise the positive impact it was having.

THE OUTCOME

We are so proud of the outcome of this project!

We were especially pleased with the results of the drone shots with the Icelandic backdrops and the way were able to set-up the interview shots, thanks to having the time to recce these locations! We also used a probe lens on some of the shots which enabled us to reach some hard to access areas and just added to the dynamic nature of this video.

Reflecting on this project, it really does highlight how fantastic communication during pre-production and having everyone on board, sharing the same vision, really does pay off.
